Knee Strikes

The knee strike is a highly effective, practical technique for real-world self-defense. It can be executed with either the lead (front) or trail (rear) leg, delivering powerful force in close-range situations. Key guidelines for proper execution:

  • Maintain balance: Use one or both hands to grip your opponent or another stable surface for support.

  • Point of contact: Strike with the area just above the kneecap, avoiding direct impact with the knee joint itself.

  • Weight distribution: Keep your body weight evenly centered on both feet until the moment of the strike.

  • Upper body alignment: Avoid excessive leaning of the upper body—any backward tilt should be minimal to preserve balance and maximize power.
